Hurricane Herman was a deadly and very destructive hurricane that formed during the 2017 Atlantic season. With damages amounting to $90 billion, Herman also became the third-costliest tropical cyclone on record, behind only Hurricane Cleo earlier that year and Hurricane Katrina; primarily from widespread flooding in the Manhattan metropolitan area. Herman was the eighth named storm, sixth hurricane, and fifth major hurricane of the year.
